I was a gruelling 12 hour days sanding floors and tearing down wallpaper with one child strapped on my back and the others playing in the playpen. Ha! The home was starting to look nice, but there were a few things that needed to be left. The house would need a great deal of effort and an enthusiasm to shop. In order to keep my budget sound, I travelled with my 3 boys looking for deals at estate sales. Our weekly routine consisted of walking from Thursday to Saturday through garage sales, buying antique and brand new furniture as well as spending the weekdays painting sanding in the driveway. The furniture looked like this... which is where I got my passion for restoration. When our home was finished, I didn't want to put it down! I had an area at the market to sell items. There were lots of pieces, I didn't have a clue what to do with them and my storage space was a mess. More than 1000 people came to my home in just one weekend to buy everything that was on the ground. That's how my company Growing Days was born. Growing Days was not only an extremely successful company, it was also my sweet family. Being a new mom, I found the right way to be able to begin my own business as well as be a good mother. Growing Days seemed like the best match. The year 2013 was the year my daughter Nora was our fourth baby. My business was going well but I wanted a rest. I opted to take a little time off from my vintage furniture and remain at home with the kids. It was exactly what I needed. After a few months that the phones started to ring. People were calling me and seeking help for the interior decoration and improvements. Many of the people calling me were people who had came to my house at one of my furniture open house events. I began taking on clients at a time going at my own pace but it didn't take long before I had numerous accounts and had a complete home renovation business. If you'd told me that my company would become the premise for a DIY Network show, I might have laughed. It's funny to think back about it.
